Oh Henry!

No, not the candy bar that is filled with peanuts, caramel and fudge, coated in chocolate. And no matter what anyone says, there's no nougat.

Henry is a cockapoo (much cuter than any pictured on Wiki) and he and I have become acquainted in the past month. In that short amount of time I have been more impressed with him than many humans that I've encountered.

Henry is an extremely good listener (he only eats after the count of three), enjoys climbing trees in LoHi (where he lives), and listening to Jill Scott with his friend Goosey.

The picture above is Henry getting dried off after going quite some time without a bath. Regardless of his resistance at first, he couldn't be happier being clean. This is just a little intro to my new friend, so I'll update with you his adventures as I observe them.

Daddy Wants a New Pair of Shoes

Walking through Capitol Hill, you'll see plenty of strange things. One strange thing I have seen on a number of occasions are random pairs of shoes with no human in them. It's like they got beamed back to Starship Enterprise but left the skids behind.

This pair of beauties was in the alley of my apartment building right next to a telephone pole. Since black goes with everything, obv, they didn't last long and had disappeared when I returned home later that day.



Here's another pair that I saw on the sidewalk near Bender's:

Again, decent condition and even a little stylish if you've got Joey Kinney's taste. Another bargain hunter made off with these babies as they too were gone when I walked by a short while later.

It's interesting that shoes, being the extremely functional tools that they are, will always find a pair of feet to take them around, regardless of whether they come from, whether it's Saks or a sidewalk.

No, It's Not All Gold but You Can Pretend

Sorry for the long delay in posting here. Most of my attention has been dedicated to Tramp for reasons that most of you probably already know. Nevertheless, this is my attempt to get reacquainted with the Fax.

For those of you that are not American geography buffs, Denver is the capital of Colorado. Above is the Colorado State Capitol Building that gives our lovely neighborhood its namesake. It resides between Colfax Ave. and 14th Ave and stretches between Lincoln and Grant Streets.

Construction began in 1890 and was opened for use in 1894. According to Wikipedia, the gold dome consists of a real gold plate that was first added in 1908 commemorating the Colorado Gold Rush.

I also hear that our state representatives attempt to pass legislation in the hallowed halls there but nothing of importance really gets accomplished.

The Man in Black is Watching

Bender's is a punk/country/rock bar in the neighborhood that has been called a "legendary bar" by Wikipedia. It's been there for as long as I've been around (which I admit, isn't long).

The legendary status is mostly due to this iconic mural of the late Johnny Cash that appears on the wall facing east on 13th Ave.

Now I was unable to find anything out in cyberspace to confirm if the man in black ever performed here but even if he never did, it's a fitting tribute to a legend in the world of music.

Nuggets and Other Brief Notes

Yeah, the Nuggets are looking good. Keeping up with LA is a tall order so they've been impressive. Big game tomorrow night...

I'll be on the road in NYC starting on Thursday and I plan to take some time to post a few more pictures from the new neighborhood.

Ayn Rand Slept Here (Or Just Slept With Someone Here)

So I decided that I would post a few photos of the new neighborhood a la BK and Catch That? It is great blog to follow if you know New York and even if you don't. The guy does good work. Keep it up my friend.

Anyhoo, this is the first photo I decided I would post. Forgive the poor image, it was on my phone... It's an apartment overhang on my block in Capitol Hill.

For those of you that need the background, Ayn Rand is the founder of Objectivism and the author of several books, most notably, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. I haven't read Fountainhead but spent a year of my life reading Atlas. I don't recommend it for beach reading or if you find yourself bored one day and decide to pick something up. It is an epic piece of literature that is a must read for libertarians and bookworms.

I noticed this overhang right away after I moved to CH and wondered of the genesis of the name. It might be worth looking into...

What Were You Doing One Year Ago?

I was apparently so bored at work that I started this blog. Funny how things don't really change too much...

Yep, it's the first birthday of the Ditmas Park/Kensington/City Park/Capitol Hill blog. Here's the first entry.

I guess you might say On the Fax is the Sean Combs of blogs. Can't make up it's mind about what it wants to be called but always settles on something that people eventually just accept.

In any case, thanks for reading my obscure musings.
